The Department of Administration was created in 1957 and acts as the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as purchasing and contracting for goods and services, building construction, acquiring and disposing of real property, managing state vehicles, and operating auxiliary services. In addition, the department provides Internal Services and Programs such as the maintenance of state-owned buildings and grounds, leadership in managing the department's information resources, and police security for state government facilities in Wake County.
