The Department of Commerce is the primary economic-development agency in North Carolina, working with local and regional, as well as national and international, companies. Based on its mission to improve the quality of life of all North Carolinians, the Department serves existing business and industry by providing international trade assistance, recruiting jobs and investment, supporting workforce development, and encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation. Furthermore, they provide data and reports for other state government and agencies which regulate commerce.
