The town of Waxhaw, North Carolina is a suburb of Charlotte. Named after a loca Indian Tribe, the community dates back to the 18th century. President Andrew Jackson was born near here, though there is ongoing historical debate about the exact location. Located in Union County, the fast growing municipality had a 2000 US Census population of 2,625 and a current estimatd population of over 7,400.
