The North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) oversees the safety, health, and well-being, of workers within the State through three divisions: Administration, Occupational Safety and Health, and Standards and inspection.
Administration handles communications, legal affairs, resarch and policy, and oversees the NCDOL library.
Occupational Safety and Health enforces the OSHA requirements, offers consultative services, administers training and employer assistance, and analyzes and compiles important statistical data.
Standards and Inspections promotes and monitors apprenticeship programs, oversees elevator and boiler safety, and enforces the 1992 Retaliatory Employment Discrimination Act (REDA) as well as the the 1975 Mine Safety and Health Act.
