The North Carolina Department of Revenue, created in 1921, was one of the first state Department's of Revenue in the nation at its inception. Their primary responsibility is to collecting taxes for the State in an efficient and impartial manner. The Department is led by the Secretary of Revenue, the Deputy Secrtary of Revenue, and five Assistant Secretaties.
